Orthodontic Braces

Orthodontists commonly use braces to correct tooth irregularities like excessive spacing and gaps. Modern braces can be designed to closely match the current color of teeth or designed to be nearly invisible with clear aligners. Braces are typically bonded to each tooth with a special orthodontic resin. When attached to a molar, the braces can be bonded directly to the tooth or fitted to the size and shape of each tooth for proper connection. A series of metal wires attach the braces with the assistance of simple o-rings or clips that are manufactured in many different colors.

According to recent data, over 30% of orthodontic patients are now over the age of 18. Dental irregularities like protruding teeth, overbites, crooked or misaligned teeth are treated effectively regardless of the age of the patient. The largest difference between orthodontic procedures between children and adults is the maturity of adult bones. Adult bones need to readjust from their current positions which lengthen the treatment time.
